Found, Taken
These drawings are inspired by a wish to convey the simplicity and beauty of natural objects. Hidden beneath their benign surfaces lies an awareness that such sentient beings as thistles and porcelain berries possess a fleeting temporality at their core and so—like our very earth itself, like us—they exist in danger. For this reason, most are drawn when they are no longer alive, when they are fragments. Drawn in plain grey, in graphite pencil, for they somehow live on in shadow.
